Brandon, Manitoba (AAFC-AAC) [1]

Status - Active

Location - The Brandon National Wind Erosion Research Network site is managed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and is located at the Brandon Research and Development Centre approximately 1 km west of Brandon, Manitoba in the Aspen Parkland ecoregion of the eastern Canadian Prairies. The site has slightly to gently undulating surface topography and a mean elevation of 410 m above sea level.

Climate - Brandon has a subhumid continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. Mean annual temperature was 2.2°C and mean annual precipitation was 474 mm (118 mm as snow).

Vegetation and soil - Annual crops on a Udic Boroll soil with a loamy sand surface texture.

Management - Conservation tillage with a dryland canola (Brassica napus) - spring wheat (Triticum aestivum)- peas (Pisum sativum) - corn (Zea mays) crop rotation.
